Me amo a Espana!
As much as I love Canadia - I have ALWAYS wanted to live in Spain which is one of my most favorite countries, if not my favorite. The people are amazing, the food even better and yes the ham is the best worldwide. If I had to have one last meal, I would have a bocadillo de jamon (ham sandwich - but the most stunning and yet simple sandwich you could ever eat) and a cafe con leche at the Museo del Jamon (the "ham museum" - really a typical spanish cafe in Madrid). I could post for hours about this virtues of both the ham and the Museo (when I run away from home for good you can try the one not too far from the Plaza del Sol, I will no doubt be eating or working there and will be as happy as a pig in...) but the real reason I post is because:
SPAIN PASSED ITS GAY MARRIAGE LAW! Viva Espana! Que fantastico! Un revolucion para derechos humanos! Te amo la bella Espana! Viva Espana!
Mr. Bush - take note on the subject of LIBERTY and FREEDOM as so eloquently put by
Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero:
"We were not the first, but I am sure we will not be the last. After us will come many other countries, driven, ladies and gentlemen, by two unstoppable forces: freedom and equality," he told the chamber.
Zapatero said the reform of Spanish legal code simply adds one dry paragraph of legalese but means much more.
He called it "a small change in wording that means an immense change in the lives of thousands of citizens. We are not legislating, ladies and gentlemen, for remote unknown people. We are expanding opportunities for the happiness of our neighbors, our work colleagues, our friends, our relatives."
I'm so happy that Spain and soon Canada will have true marriage for their gay citizens (while law now in Spain, it will not become official until literally recorded into the lawbooks, which should happen Friday; Canada is just waiting for expected Senate confirmation). I hope the world quickly follows suit.
Gracias al pais d'Espana - me encanto!
