The Religious Right strikes again - AIDS help with Conditions

I'm not say I advocate or condone illegal prostitution. But the latest move by the Bush administration only seeks to pontificate, assert some sort of perverse moral-politcal authority and scare people with HIV to not seek treatment. These morons don't get it - the majority of the illegal prostitutes in the world are not doing it for fun - I won't get into the complex issues of why people turn tricks - but I will say, if they think this is going to reduce HIV they are DEAD WRONG. This will serve to only make things worse. Time after time, bullshit moral policies like these have the opposite effect - clean needle exchanges are the perfect example. Yes again I don't condone heroin addiction but we are in the midst of a public health crisis. HIV infection rates need to be stopped at all costs and using all means available. You may not like needle users but if there is a way to stop the spread of the disease this will only HELP all the other efforts (education, drug addiction counseling and cessation programs etc.)

These conservatives are so attached to their moral superiority and highground they only thing that is evident is their desire to increase the size of their EGOS and not increase the resources toward stopping this epidemic.

Maybe someone should offer conservative moralists needed aid with attached conditions. The story would be VERY different if our allies refused us aid b/c of our ridiculous policies. It would be a national crisis and a "why us?!" - instead of recognizing the hypocrisy. But who cares, we're America, we carry the big stick and what we say should go right?

Not for this American. To our elected officials who supported this bullcrap: Shame on you!
