Back finally
I returned from Halifax yesterday and am totally wiped. It was a very long and exhausting trip. I was very happy to see my boyfriend and spend some time with him when he picked me up and after he got off work last night. Absence makes the heart grow very fond (or even fonder in this case :-) I also had a nice dinner of 1/2 price pizza at Cafe Luna along with some fiery political and philosophical discourse - a refreshing change from the dreary small talk I had to make with concrete execs all week during the conference. The Canadians I met while I was there (like in the hotel, restaurants etc) were all so friendly and genuine. I really love that country - I will prolly write more later.
I am off work today and tomorrow on my comp days and I am exhausted. I'm not feeling well though, I get very bad ingrown hairs and my face is all inflamed. Last year on Labor Day weekend I had just returned from our meeting and thought I had a sinus infection b/c of some of the symptoms. That is until I noticed my neck had swollen to twice it's normally size, a huge zit like thing was in the center and I had a 103 fever, chills and nausea. Suffice it to say I drove myself to the emergency room since nobody was around. At first they thought I had flesh eating bacteria - but it turned out to be the ingrown hair which had inflamed a lymph node. I got antibiotics and it took a couple weeks to get my face back to normal. I felt like crap. Today I started to feel a lil odd and my face was on fire and the neck is swelling again. I have a doctor's appt tomorrow since they couldn't see me today, I don't want to be in the ER again. I have some antibiotics left from the last time - they said to take them if it ever got that bad again. I took one before and will again shortly - so hopefully I can catch it before I look like a total freakshow. I don't know what to do about the ingrown hairs, I have to shave for work but they hurt like hell and this is the extreme. I have been to the dermatologist, doctors etc - I've used cremes, electric shavers, oils, razors, antibiotics etc but nothing seems to work. I think I will have to break down and pay for the laser treatments - which insurance won't cover I don't think - though maybe I have a medical reason since it landed me in the ER before...
Part of this is b/c I logged a minimum of 90-100 hours in less than a week (like 6 days) of work. Every meeting I have come back from I have been sick after - it ruined my Labor day last year and almost cancelled my trip to Europe in February after the annual meeting. Not right! I need to quit this job regardless.... I am STILL waiting to hear about the job at the university - they keep stringing me along... it seems normal b/c the guy was at a conference all last week, their HR dept is notoriously bad etc... they seem very interested and just are asking me to "hang in there" (his words from a quick email he sent last week in response to mine). Hopefully something tomorrow or today (his email indicated no later than Monday - but the lady who the position reports too just said early this week) so we'll see. I am laying low and trying to rest and relax until then...
Dbud and Mr. M and Ira are in Europe now and emailed me from Sitges (note: the intro is in Catalan, but there is an English section - it is an awesome gay beachtown in Spain!)
To see a great pic of these three great guys just click here! That is all from here I am going to go wait and relax while reading the new
Harry Potter

I had one of those on my dick once. It wasn't pretty. Insurance should cover it if your doctor signs a letter of medical necessity and writes up a history for you. Take pictures if you can too.

A pair of tweezers, a steady hand and using that shaving stuff made for American Americans might do the trick. At least it's an excuse for you to lie their while your boy picks at you!

Sorry you aren't feeling 100% Matty! (Gosh there are a lot of us Matt's on blogspot!) Get on those antibiotics and use some ice to keep down the swelling - it will help keep you from looking like a freakshow.
Considering that I've been shaving since 10th grade, I am an expert on this topic. Try using Keihl's shave cream, too. More expensive, but it's much easier on your face and will cut down on ingrown hairs. Use a new razor frequently and throw old the old ones after 5-7 days max.
Also, don't skip shaving, even on weekends. These tricks worked for me - let me know how it goes...
