Ex-gay Story Coverage Update

I have been wildly busy today and didn't have too much time to update things but I did start reading a blog called Ex-gay Watch again. It had been a while. I of course commented on the Post story there as well - which was an opposing view to some of the folks who had written before me. But I will say that I got a very warm reception despite my dissenting view. I'd read their site before and feel that it is well-done and people really care, even if you are of a differing opinion. You should check it out.

Also a good time to plug GLAAD. One thing I neglected to add to my letter was the section of the paper that the article appeared in - the Health section. Not politics, Health. To me this indicates an underlying position that being gay is a "health" issue. That's bull. Being gay is not a mental health problem - anxiety brought on by coming out, sure that is a mental health issue. Organizations like GLAAD help keep the media aware of who the GLBT community is, helps to dispel rumours/stereotypes etc and also polices the various outlets to ensure that GLBT citizens are not being misrepresented or slandered. This ranges from Will and Grace to World News Tonight. It's a good organization. I used to only pitch a couple bucks there every now and again but today's article reminds me that I need to give regularly in addition to writing my letters etc. Just a thought.
