A former blogoholic I have stopped the blog for now. I need to focus on teaching and living my life with my best Boo and pup! See you around the cybersphere!

New Scotland Update

Today is the big deal in Nova Scotia - my marketing committee meeting. Today is the TOS show and where I have to wow them or endure hours of painful comments from people who have no clue what they are talking about. We have other committees like Technical and Construction that handle the operational aspects of our concrete product. Those often get bogged down in petty details or political fights between the manufacturers vs. contractors blah blah blah. So far my meeting has been fairly tame, some in-fighting but generally my 45 min caffeine-addled powerpoint presentations and energy have left things in the dust. I pratically ran the last minute since the committee chair didn't do much... he is not here today so they vice-chair guy will run it. He's a very energetic young guy who runs marketing for one of the biggest manufacturers in North America. His words to me last night at the cocktail hour "We are going to move that meeting along so fast their heads will spin..." - I can't wait! This guy will not put up with any crap and hopefully btw him and me we can snow them enough so they let me do my job without a lot of useless banter, additional tasks and busywork. We'll see - I'm only doing like 6 slides today and not even done with that! LOL I did do a 14 page report which will be referenced so I'm not worried.

Otherwise I am exhausted. Last night I stole away from the cocktail hour, skipped hours worth of dinner at expensive restaurants and opted for the comfort and quiet of my room chats with Dbud and Mr. M, my boo (I cannot wait to see him - he's getting attacked! LOL) and Heavenly Bed - which was just so and was passed out and snoozing by 10:30PM AST I imagine. Up at 6a this morning and taking my time getting up. Figured I would get a blog in before I headed downstairs to set-up. The Adderall is kicking now so I am feeling good and waking up.

On the job front I emailed the professory yesterday. He too is at a conference but expects a decision no later than Monday - grrrrrrr what happened to late this week!? Though his tone seemed casual and Friday... "Hang in there. - Dr. B" were his last lines - so I think he gets it, but maybe I am reading into things too much. I think the HR dept is slow so hopefully they make up their minds soon! I don't want my clean breaking point to evaporate!

ok off to the meeting room and to prepare. Tonight we have the lobster dinner (I will be having steak, even though I am from Cape Cod, I hate lobster!) and yes the pub crawl. They have even hired an "Angus" character (this is New Scotland - Nova Scotia, get it!?) and yes bagpipers to walk from bar to bar. My mother would like it - she loves bagpipers... I think they are annoying and the sound hurts my ears and makes me thing of funerals but what the hell to I know, I like Hindi pop music...

Regards and salutations from a somewhat remote outpost in Eastern Maritime Canada...
