A former blogoholic I have stopped the blog for now. I need to focus on teaching and living my life with my best Boo and pup! See you around the cybersphere!

Scenes from the 3rd world - My comments

My criticism and anger mounts with every photo, article and story I hear. Below are some clips I read this morning and my thoughts are in italics.

"An explosion jolted residents awake early Friday, illuminating the pre-dawn sky with red and orange flames over the city where corpses rotted along flooded sidewalks and bands of armed thugs thwarted fitful rescue efforts. " - This is what life is like on a daily basis in many parts of the world. Is this a developed country or the 3rd world? We should be ashamed this is happening - natural disasters can't be stopped but SLOW, PATHETIC relief efforts can be stopped.

"They have M-16s and they're locked and loaded," she said. "These troops know how to shoot and kill, and they are more than willing to do so, and I expect they will." - People are starving, dehydrated and the gov't and people provided relief are no where in sight or are overwhelmed. When it comes down to it I'd rather lift a couple of X-boxes to trade for food and water than rot in the street like a dog - just to protect some business whose merchandise is a TOTAL INSURANCE LOSS anyhow. People need to get off their moral high-horses and think of what THEY would do.

Question #1 the America People should ask - "While people were already dying in the streets did you really need to WAIT any longer to get off your 28 day vacation to DO SOMETHING?"

Question #2 - "Why hasn't Florida offered assistance? For that matter you seemed to get aid to your BROTHER's state pretty damn quickly..."

Question #3 - "Why don't you drop the pride act and ask for foreign aid? Real leaders sometimes have to eat CROW in order to DO THEIR DUTY TO PROTECT THEIR CITIZENS. You have acted like the world's biggest jerk when disasters happen elsewhere, putting conditions based on moral belief on humanitarian money for AIDS and now you would prefer let AMERICANS die in their own country than implicate your "good" character by asking for help."

This situation disgusts me. It is sickening. But it is time to criticize and add the pressure and fire. This cannot be held back - whether you like the politics or not you have to see how poorly this relief action is. If we must motivate by shame, we will b/c we can't afford not to.

But as always it's time to put up or shut up. I'm making several monetary donations this weekend, it is the least I can do, people are suffering, our people - and they are dying on television. Get your checkbooks out, it is our moral and ethical duty.
