I don't care about his addiction or if he is getting treatment. So what - millions of people struggle with problems every day - no special treatment for politicians! He deserves to be thrown in jail like everyone else! No special handling for politicians or popular "community" figures. Our normally sane and effective mayor should be ashamed of his presence on the council, how he represents the "old" Washington DC (when it was murder capital USA) and EXACTLY why his dream of rejuvenating this city WILL NOT happen on a wide scale because educated people understand the huge LIABILITY of having a repeat offender (whether crack, prostitutes or tax evasion) in a position of power.
As the 1st city of the USA and US Capitol - we should be ashamed. Put Marion were he belongs once and for all - in JAIL! No pleas for drug-addicted criminals!

The part I like best, is that despite all his previous actions and the way that he has screwed up time and time again, people still believe that he is being set up.
I really want to stop paying my taxes too. When it comes time for me to go to jail, I will simply ask for the Marion Barry sentance (a slap on the wrist), go do a couple lines of coke, and then go bang a couple hookers.
