Getting my money back from the gubment.... How taxing!

So this is the 3rd or maybe 4th year that I have done my own taxes... I use Turbo Tax and have always been very satisfied. It is pretty easily to follow and does most of the complicated work for you...

This year Turbo Tax is doing its thing but... Lord have mercy! Does the tax code have to be so SEVERELY overcomplicated?! I bought and sold a primary residence and moved in between states... well from a state to a non-state District... and lemme tell ya - it BLOWS. Trying to figure out what income was earned where, how much interest in which area etc.... ooooooooouch my head. I hope I get all my money back and don't screw this up. I may shell out the extra bucks to have it reviewed by a "professional"- can't hurt right? I hate to feel like a sucker but at the same time $30 for an extra set of eyes is reasonable enough... I spend that in a weekend just being social...

Fun fun fun... but at least I am getting money back (Thank you DC 1st time homebuyer tax credit!!!) :-) Now I will be putting all that money to bills, bills and more bills... oh well!

Turbo Tax is kickass. However, I share your pain, sort of. I bought a hosue in Atlanta in '03 so I'm still thankfully taking that mortgage interest deduction (the house is rented to friends).

However, I spent my first month here in the Vag and was subsequently taxed in Vag. Fortunately it was exactly one month from Jan 1 - Jan 31, so that made the cipherin' easy. I got all my tax money back from VA, which made me grin ... not one cent to that gay-hatin' state.
