A former blogoholic I have stopped the blog for now. I need to focus on teaching and living my life with my best Boo and pup! See you around the cybersphere!

The Round-Up

Well it is about time for the Cookie monster and I to head up to New York again :-) We are now 1/2 way through our 4 show subscription to the Met. This weekend we will see Romeo & Juliette - I am excited to see another opera. I really enjoyed Le Nozze & La Boheme (which truly was SPECTACULAR - worth seeing even if just for the set!). It will be nice being back in NYC for a weekend... Friday night we head back to where we became instant Desi-celebrities (hopefully the police will not shit the club down this time!) and then we are on our own from there... suggestions for cheap and tasty restaurants would be welcome... same goes for evening spots - I keep reading about Snaxx and by now I am very curious....

And even better - we are not riding the exploding bus this time, nor driving... but for $277 (incl taxes!) we are flying on the Delta Shuttle and staying in a decent hotel in midtown. Thank you Site59! I can't wait! I am also looking forward to taking a couple more trips, New York again in March for La Forza - then Chicago in March for ACHE (well it is for work but the Boo and I are going to fly out early and hang out :-) and then hopefully somewhere warm and sunny in April...

I had a great weekend. Boo and I went out on Saturday night after a good workout (of course I continually find muscles I didn't know that I had - we did cable crosses and now this weird spot in my shoulders is very sore!) We had a lovely dinner (and sans pickles - I demanded a pickle-free zone at this local diner - their normal free appetizer is a bowl of pickles and it is a well known fact that I am utterly REPULSED by pickles - ask anyone... vegetarians are less offended by slaughterhouses than I by pickles!) It was COLD AS HELL and we damn near did freeze but thankfully we had a couple drinks to warm us up with Watusi and Cookie Monster. Sunday was a nice lazy day and today we gym'd it up again, I had a meeting with my group for my class project and then shopping at Giant... all in all a nice weekend.

I also ran into someone with whom I have not seen nor spoken with in over a year. Nothing to report there, the drama is over and I'm so much happier now than then - but it got me thinking - shit, time really does fly... seems like the year came and went faster than a fistful of cash in Vegas... Maybe it is because I am approaching the big 3-0 but time seems like it is in fast-forward... speaking of which - to the individual I saw on Saturday night - can I get my Streisand records, Skateboard Sliders and River Patrol dvds back? I still have your blue tie which I will send back by a little Afrikaaner courier....

pickles...something tells me there is a traumatic childhood experience lurking behind your disdain of pickles....i'm just sayin'!

Jerry has the same violent reaction to pickles that you describe! When a sandwich arrives and there is a pickle on the plate, he just holds the plate in front of me until I fetch the pickle away. A couple of years ago, we were at a friends house for dinner and she served a yummy potato salad. I was suprised that Jerry was eating it, because I could definitely taste the pickles. After dinner I said something and I thought he was going to be sick, even though he didn't realize at the time what he was eating :) I am with orange.paper.bike, you boys must have had a traumatic pickle experience :)

No traumatic experience except that my father used to leave the pickle jar on the table at lunch and the site (and SMELL) of those pale green pickles floating..... yuuuuuuuuuuk.

Seriously it really repulses me I am honestly gagging just thinking of it... BLEECH.

I don't like pickles, either.

But don't even TRY to sneak mayonnaise by me or in any of my edibles. I know it's just oil and eggs, but there's just something about mayo (color, consistency, smell) that just grosses me out. I can taste it in just about anything, too. It's a gift.
