A former blogoholic I have stopped the blog for now. I need to focus on teaching and living my life with my best Boo and pup! See you around the cybersphere!

Another long day...but a good one

So yesterday was another long day. I'll spare you the details but we had a faculty meeting - which is usually crazy b/c everyone waits til the last minute and scrambles. Of course despite my advance planning and organization Potbelly decided to screw up our catering order and the sandwiches came an our late - peeps were not happy. But we got through it and the rest of the day flew by with many a task completed.

But as I was leaving, the most senior professor, and one of the most difficult (he's VERY traditional and old fashioned - read: he uses a typewriter and abhors any process done online) came up to me and said "Matthew (TOS is my nickname) I just wanted to tell you that you are doing a great job" I said thank you Professor and he continued "You really get things done around here and you do it with a smile. We are very glad to have you and appreciate what you are doing" Floored I thanked him again and said I was glad to be there "Good I hope we can keep that up [I am wildly underpaid and most people would go crazy with the BS and all the responsabilites I have... I have the job everybody points to and says - wow you're a better man than I etc." It totally made my night and I told him so.

That was very cool, very cool of him. It is nice to be recognized, even at 6:45pm when you are on the way to the gym after a long day of work. It is truly the little things that do matter to me. Anyhow just felt like sharing a positive story :-) Have a good day people!

oh matthew, glad to hear that you got some propps at the office today. it always makes me feel good for people to say nice things about my job performance, especially if it's someone who is not prone to doing so normally. i don't know why we all don't do that for each other more than we do.
