Long day!
Ok I am not going to go there - but I will say Ang Lee gave a really nice speech - very heartfelt in my opinion - of course I missed the whole Taiwanese part but that is ok... overall I think Brokeback got screwed by the Hollywood machine - more proof in my opinion (again just my opinion but it's my blog so ;-) I honestly don't think Hollywood is truly ready to embrace gay openness, even though Hollywood is SOOOOO GAY. Sure Philadelphia won Best Picture, but I think it was very easy to swallow since once again the gays were in a subservient role - the dying and oppressed AIDS victims... gay cowboy rugged love is good enough for headlines but blacks and white pretending to be nice to each other in a contrived-all-too-conventional-while-still-trying-to be conventional flick with a cameo cast - well that is Oscar material baby! But I digress - it has been a long day, work, class (which was great) then gym at Ballston - you have to branch out sometimes plus it is close to class, then the Teet. All makes for a tired but happy boy... The picture is just because :-)
Oh and I had a lovely Saturday night at Remingtons where I run into fun bloggers a plenty!

Very well put Other Jason.
Yes, it sucks that BM did not win best picture or that hottie Jake G. didn't win an award either. (I'd give him one just for being so sexy!)
But, that does not diminish the fact that the movie has already accomplished so much more and remains a favorite and an inspiration to so many people.

Actually Philadelphia DIDN'T win Best Picture. Matter of fact,tt wasn't even nominated. Tom Hanks did win Best Actor though.

But let's remember this... BM wasn't the greatest of movies anyway!
