GLBT families booted from the front of the line
Such bullshit... I hope nobody even believes that this sudden "youth group" ticket block was just normal policy and not an attempt to keep GLBT families away from the cameras rolling at the opening ceremony with 1st librarian Laura. Horseshit. This president has no spine at all. Bad enough he's embroiled in scandal and mired in a bloody senseless war - now he's picking on little kids with GLBT parents. FOR SHAME!
Oh and for those critics who are upset about GLBT parents "politicizing" the Easter Egg Roll - put down the crack pipe, bible and stop being such a bigoted moron. A silent exhibition of color? Is that politicizing anything? You'd think they were demonstrating in the streets naked by the reports from the right side of the fence. They need to come off it.
If wearing a lei for equality is political then I hope they prevented Christian families from wearing their crosses, WWJD t-shirts etc. Some of us might consider that a political move too... According to the leader of Family Pride "JENNIFER CHRISLER: This is an event for children and of course we're going to bring our children too. And it's important to remember that, at its heart, that's what the Egg Roll is.
I also think it's a little disingenuous that our opponents are saying that, because they think nothing of bringing their children to the causes that they care about.
As a matter of fact, I've seen their children at political rallies against abortion, raising signs and wearing t-shirts that have very strong political messages.
Here all we're doing is going to the Egg Roll, participating and wearing a rainbow lei to celebrate our families."
Oh yeah - one last rant about these idiots... For the people crybabying about "using children" as a political weapon - ummmmmmmm did parents bring their kids to the March on Washington for MLK's speech? YES they did. Were they "using" their kids? Even if they were, is it so wrong to do so to fight for DIGNIFIED and EQUITABLE treatment of familes? Equality, not special rights, is all we gays and our families want... is that so much to ask?

I love that I also saw a news piece that dramatized the situation saying that they "expected controversy" and LO AND BEHOLD there was NONE...they even asked a straight couple if they were "worried" about the gay couples being there...
I cry a little bit for my straight friends at that one. Oy.
