MAT - Test One

Ok so today I take the MAT which is one of the two tests I need to formally enter my grad program. The other is Praxis I which I will take tomorrow at 9:00am UGH in Merrland double UGH!

I haven't studied or practiced for either because I've been too busy with work and assignments for my classes (better to get good grades over test scores in my mind). I've pretty much been told I don't need to pass or score well on either one b/c I have good grades from a very competitive school, getting good grades in the grad class I am taking etc... but the inner over-achiever in me is frustrated for not getting to study and nervous b/c I am a HORRIBLE standardized test taker, ADD etc...

Anyhow I am sitting quietly at Boo's house - studying for the 1st time. Basically I read the test booklet and just took an online practice test. Amazingly enough I scored in the 81-99th percentile for the MAT - which is probably the best test to take if you ever want to go on Jeopardy. It is 120 analogies in 60 minutes - all word puzzles essentially.

Since it is mostly verbal and language based (though math is thrown in, as is geography, history, science, philosophy etc) I think I did pretty well - it was almost kindof fun I hate to say it.

All in all I'm not so worried about THIS test now... tomorrow is another story - that is 4 hours long and has lots of MATH which I SUCK at... plus I will need to pass it eventually to get my teaching lic. but for now I can fail it so as to complete the requirements of my grad school application, interview and finally get into the program....

Oh yeah and I need to finish my research paper for Monday and do my final.... ah I love the end of the semester! But it is nice to not be working today at least - even if to take a test!
