I know I am a sick person but I have some secrets I need to get out...I LOVE the new Geico commercial with Charo... I can't help it, she is like a weird, Castellano lisping drag queen on speed. What's not to love?! Especially how she mixes indecipherable English with more of the same in Spanish!!!
Random Charo trivia - Charo's real name is "Maria Rosario Pilar Martinez Molina Baeza" - ok, Charo it is...
Another sick secret - I am also fond of Carmen Miranda (yes the lady with the fruit on her head...) she didn't cuchi-cuchi so much as chico-chico (well she was Portuguese...) - maybe she needs to do a Geico ad too...(oh wait...)
Another thing I wonder about - are Carmen Miranda and the Chiquita Banana lady related? These are the questions of our time... Actually all three of them could be in cahoots... hmmm
Ok since we are on the subject of drag queens I like... and Geico commercials I also love the new Geico commerical with Little Richard too... "Mashed potatoes and gravy wooooooooo!"

I loooooooooooooove that Charo ad. It's totally genius. I can't get enough of it. And it makes me proud to have Geico for my car.

Useless Tidbit Of Info #4,237: I talked to Charo on the phone one time. Really! She called me when I worked at Tower Records. It was 1994. She was promoting her new CD. She's like, "You probably don't know me. My name is Charo." And I'm like "Charo! Of course I know you. You're Charo!"

geico is really firing on all cylinders. i LOVE charo (she's my friend at friendster, and i don't have many non-real friends), and i LOVE LOVE little richard. he cracks me up with his coked-out eyeballs and crazy screeching. i have a bunch of little richard stories from tv shows i've seen (grammies, kathy griffin) or stuff i've read (too long to mention here, but trust me it's funny).
if i was more succeptible to advertising, i might actually switch to geico.

Netflix has several movies with Carmen Miranda including "Carmen Miranda: Bananas Is My Business" (which you have to save cuz they don't seem to have it available anymore).
