A former blogoholic I have stopped the blog for now. I need to focus on teaching and living my life with my best Boo and pup! See you around the cybersphere!

"Marvel"-ing at the local Dog Pound

So we did go to the pound yesterday. We went to one of the most advanced shelters in the country yesterday. It really was amazing. If you have ever been to a pound you know they can be depressing, awful places, even if they are keeping the dogs away from certain death or the streets. This place was different though. It was simply AMAZING(read the article)- it made ME want to live there. It was state-of-the-art and serene. Each little room was for one dog but a central system of doors let them all mingle together when they wanted to. There were a lot of dogs curled up and sleeping with each other. They even have a rain system that simulates rain beating down on a glass roof. They also pump in relaxing music. It was immaculately clean and so pleasant you even didn't notice the occasional whiff of dog poop (which was a rarity and cleaned almost immediately). It was simply amazing. I will be making a small donation as a result of this nice experience.

One downside though. We met some of the CUTEST, ADORABLE, SWEET, and LOVEABLE dogs... My two favorites were Marvel the Beagle (and there many other cute beagles there too!) and Larry the Labrador (Boo's favorite - but mine too). I never should have gone there because I want both of them. I am so dog-starved. I want a little dog to love. Boo wants the same (and not just b/c he's prolly sick of me pawing at him like one all the time!)

Sigh - if you live in DC please adopt Marvel or Larry so I can dog-sit for you. Hell I will adopt them myself in June when I am done with stupid grad school which keeps me out of the house until 9:30PM on weekdays.

If Dbud realllllllllllllllly loved me he'd take Mr. M up there so they could fall in love with Marvel and Larry and adopt them. :-)

Seriously though - normally I put human charities first on my list, but a couple of bucks to this shelter would be awesome. If you live in DC - go see it, it is right up North Capitol Street at Oglethorpe. It is nothing short of amazing.

Oh yes, this last Lab in the snow is Hunter - Boo's childhood best buddy. I just put him in there b/c he is the cutest puppy ever - especially if you could see him with a young Boo. Makes you want to shed a tear it is such a cute and happy picture!

WARL is awesome. I got my beagle angels there. Oh come on, get them both. Two dogs are just as easy to care for as one dog. June graduation? well there is http://www.dogsbyday.com/page/19-406.htm

until then. Or my house!!!

You really need a dog! If anyone ever needed a dog, it's you! I want to go to that shelter that you wrote about. The shelter around here is always so sad!

I volunteered at WARL back in the I've got free time days and it is an incredible organization.

By the way, should you ever need to fulfill your dog needs I happen to have the best dog in the DC metro region right in my own house!
