My Snowy Day... (sorta)

So we had a delayed opening this morning! Yup at about 4:43AM I got a text message from the school system saying we were delayed! :-)

In Massachusetts we would refer to the amount of snow and ice that the DC metro area saw yesterday as... "a joke!" Seriously, I know that this area isn't equipped to deal with the snow but come on - this is ridiculous!
Of course I am very happy for the extra sleep! Delayed openings are fine by me since they don't count against us (i.e. if we miss more than 3 and less than 10 days of school b/c of snow, they have to extend the school year which = BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO) and we almost seemed to get more done since the kids (and maybe us teachers too) were more awake!

Btw, extra bonus points to the blogger who can identify the book that I grabbed that photo from... In fact I will be using it in my unit on "Snow!" next week with my super-ultra-beginner class. :-) If you went to a nice magnet school like I did you will probably remember that book. One of my all-time favorites!
