A former blogoholic I have stopped the blog for now. I need to focus on teaching and living my life with my best Boo and pup! See you around the cybersphere!

ABC, 1,2, -----------me!!!

I've been so busy with homework and school (I can't wait to stop writing that sort of post) that I haven't been able to share some FANTASTIC NEWS!!!!

After months of running to interviews, writing thank you notes, cover letters, portfolios - I finally got not one, but TWO job offers!!! I can't even tell you how happy I am!

I accepted one of the offers yesterday and I'm so excited about it. I am going to actually change gears and will move from teaching high school to...

3rd Grade!!! This is a big change for me but I know it is going to be great. I'll still be teaching ESOL, but instead of being a resource teacher(pull-out or push-in) or teaching individual classes (self-contained) I'm going to be just a regular 3rd grade teacher for a class that is mostly students for whom English is not a native language. Can you tell I am p-s-y, ched!

Here's the kicker, I got the job because of going to my friend Watusi's 4th of July conflagration errrr fireworks party (Boo and I are lucky we are still intact and not burned like microwave popcorn!). The new Guatemalan boyfriend of a friend intro'd me to his sister-in-law who got me in touch with the principal of the school.

Get this, talk about serendipity... I interviewed on Friday at 2:15PM. I was #13 out of the 14 candidates they interviewed. I wasn't the most experienced candidate but by the end of the interview the principal said I was at the top of her list. By 5:20PM - the same day, I got a call from the HR department offering me the job. They normally close at 4:30PM so someone stayed late on a Friday to make sure I got my offer before the principal went on vacation the next day!!! THEY WANT ME, THEY REALLY WANT ME!!!

I signed the offer yesterday and am pleased as punch. I get my own room, complete with coat closet and cubbyholes. The class will be about 15 students or maybe less. Oh and the commute is about 10 minutes across the bridge in one of DC's most affluent, yet progressive suburbs. It is one of the best school districts in the country and the schools are well-run, well-resourced, and amazing.

In school terms, this is the equivalent of working at Google, normally someone has to die or retire to get one of these jobs (in this case the teacher moved) so fortune has blessed me!

Yay yay yay yay yay. I still have the grind of taking 2 classes this summer and teaching summer school but knowing my future makes me feel so much more relaxed.

Ok gushing ends here. Thanks to my Boo and all my buds for listening to me rant, rave, vent, and worry for the last year. :-)

Happy Tuesday - keep cool.

I take full responsibility for Cafone's new found career. My anti-corporate rants are very persuasive!

Awwww...congrats buddy! You SO deserve this. I knew good and wonderful things were going to happen to such a good and wonderful person!! I could not be happier for you! I am actually going to start teaching piano and voice lessons this fall - and I am psyched! I am not a teacher by trade, but I am doing it more of freelance...like an independent contractor of sorts. But I am geeked! Congratulations again, my friend. You're going to be the best loved 3rd Grade Teacher in the country! Big hugs to you and Boo. Love you bro! :)
